A Kid's Review

I'll preface this review by admitting that I'm a little strange. I generally don't buy things for myself, and have also been told on more than one occasion that I'm difficult to buy presents for.

I really like a nice watch, so every once in a blue moon I indulge myself with a watch. When I say once in a blue moon, my last watch purchase (also a TAG) was about 15 years ago.

Recently I was in Switzerland on a business trip, and learned that watch stores are EVERYWHERE there.....so I ended up looking in multitudes of watch store windows and of course drooling. As the watches were all made there in Switzerland, I thought I might indulge myself there with a bargain, but all the decent watches (including this one) were priced at $2,000 and up.

So I looked in the duty free store, and made pretty much the same discovery.

Having seen both the Longines collection as well as the TAG's, I was bitten by the bug, and was on a mission to find a new watch. I did a bunch of web searching, and after hours on the web ended up........here on Amazon. Which made me feel pretty stupid, as I'm a Prime member and shop here regularly, so was kicking myself for not just coming here in the first place.

Which brings me (finally, I know....) to the point of this review.

I'm a little bit of a watch snob, but one who is on at least a bit of a budget. This is a beautiful watch, that feels and performs as one would expect of a high end Swiss watch -- but for around a thousand less than I could find anywhere else.

Two thumbs up for this one.

I'll most likely wait another 15 years before adding to my collection -- and in the meantime will enjoy this one thoroughly.

This watch is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a "dress" watch with a leather band that was just a watch without 3 or 4 other dials or stop watches or timezones. I understand TAG is discontinuing this model in favor of another with a second hand dial. The price of this watch has risen steadily for the last three weeks....I assume as supply decreases. Love the TAG clasp. 5-star watch.

Saw this watch in a store. Kept walking by it and thinking about purchasing it.

Finally got it yesterday.

I buy watches more for their beauty than their name and this is a beautiful watch. I've only had it a day and I've already gotten compliments from my compadres.

Oh yeah...it seems to tell the time ok too :)

The TG Carrera has been my daily watch for over a year now. All I can say is that it has not once failed me. It's accurate and has long reserve (can easily leave it on Friday afternoon and expect to be up and running on Sunday morning). You can't expect any more from a watch with only one function - showing the right time :)

However, this also serves as a bit of a status symbol (it's not a cheap piece of metal after all). And in this respect the Carrera over-delivers. It is all the opposite of flashy, in-your-face macho watch (which also come from respected Swiss manufacturers). It is a smart understatement.
