Wow Omega Mens 2222 80 00 Seamaster Chronometer
I was just looking on here to see how much these are going for as I had just realized I bought mine 10 years ago in 2001.
I bought mine in Hong Kong and was surprised to see that it had matching serial numbers (make sure you check the back of both ends of the band). I love the sweeping hand of the automatic versus the "ticking" hand of the quartz. I also loventhe heavy weight of the automatic as well Yes, I does lose time, but invest in a good watch winder and that should keep it on schedule while you don't wear it.
I wear mine all day...while I do yard work, while i swim...the face has been accidentally bashed against ,any items including a metal mail box without even a scratch to show for it.
It is instantly recognizable...as much as a Rolex and looks great with anything you are wearing.

Excellent watch... arrived as expected. Authentic packaging, serial numbers, warranty cards, etc.
First, I tried it on in several stores, along with other models to help me decide.... so I am very familar with the watch. I also own another Omega, the Moonwatch (the reduced version).
Among the Seamaster types, I liked this one best as it is lighter than the next model up... and the automatic is way cooler as the second hand sweeps across the face rather than clunks along like the cheaper quartz.
Amazon had one of the best prices at the time... plus it is safer than ordering directly from some small retailer. Got it within 48hrs on expedite shipping, despite going through customs. Retailer in Brooklyn, and I am in Vancouver BC.... pretty good door to door service. With duty tax and currency exchange costs, saved 35% from buying here at a retail store in Canada. Worth my while for sure. A gem at a great price.
I am absolutely delighted with my Omega Seamaster chronometer. It is well within COSC standards, gaining around 2 seconds a day. I love the attention to detail, such as the "wave pattern" on the face and the "Seamaster" logo on the back. It's a very comfortable watch, and not too large for a small wrist. I love the screw-down crown which really helps it to achieve 300-meter water resistance. This watch is simply beautiful, and it's a watch that can be passed down the generations, unlike a quartz watch whose electronics will be gone before too long. I purchased my Omega through an authorized dealer; I think purchasing a "gray market" Omega is simply nuts. I know that Omega will honor my warranty, because I have the warranty cards! Finally glad that I indulged myself with an Omega. This is one purchase that is definitely worth it!
This 2006 edition of the famous James Bond watch made its debut in the movie Casino Royale. Actually, there are two Omega watches in the movie; the limited edition Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Big Size 2907.50.91 and the limited edition Omega Seamaster Chronometer 2226.80.00. The watch offered here carries on the James Bond style without the limited edition price tag.
This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00. The new 2006 model 2220.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time. More importantly, it doesn't require servicing for 10 years versus 2-3 years in the previous model. Servicing a luxury watch like Omega can be expensive. Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in a quartz version as model 2221.80.00.
The other big change is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red. More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more.
If you desire a James Bond series watch with a true Swiss movement, this is the one.
I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.
This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.
All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.
Definitely recommended!
I bought this watch in 1999 as a splurge and have worn it every day since then. I never baby this watch and absolutely love the looks, durability and accuracy of it. It still looks as good as the day that I bought it and I plan to have it for life and probably pass it down to my son. There are darn few things you buy that you love and that actually appreciate in value and I can tell that this is one of them. Even on Amazon the price today is about $1k more than I spent in '99. I liked mine so much that I bought a lady Omega for my wife and she wears it everyday and loves it. Buy this with confidence, you'll love it.
This is a watch that i have been dreaming for the last 13 years. It's everything i was expecting and then more. Very nice looking and the feeling is superb... not too heavy, not too light. Without being too pretentious (the watch, not the owner... LOL) it really draws a lot of attention. The quality by Omega is extraordinary!
