The beast of Tag Heuer Watches.

Product Review TAG Heuer CAF2012 BA0815 Aquaracer Chronograph

TAG Heuer CAF2012 BA0815 Aquaracer Chronograph

Due to a short period of time that I had the chance to buy and sale watches, I have had the opportunity to wear and own different brands of watches , including Omega,Rolex,Tissot,Longines,Cartier and Tag Heuer, but this is the first time I own an aquaracer. and it's just a piece of art, feels like a tank on your hand, you can feel the balance rotor powering up the 25 jewels movements when you twist your wrist.
and the look is just awesome. kind of big though, but masculine, sporty with classic elegance.

It may not be chronometer certified but so far, mine has an accuracy of +-4 seconds a day which is the required accuracy to certify a chronometer. it's a ETA Valjoux modified by Tag Heuer to get the famous caliber 16, which means is not just a regular valjoux and I think that is the reason of the accuracy.

I definetely recomended if you can afford it.

This watch is really a beast, it is a very well constructed watch and also nice looking. Please keep in mind that this watch is heavy and chunky. One of the best looking Tag Heuer watches which also carries the popular and reliable Valjoux 7750 engine. Time keeping is very good and the blue bezel draws a lot of attention. It sits confortable in the wrist if you like heavy watches. I am very happy with the watch.

I have these for 3 years now. I really like them. I was inspired first by Seamaster so really like the form-factor in general. If I had to decide again, I would not hesitate to get them again. Now I think next one will be Carrera.

Pros:
- Solid build, high quality
- Swiss precision
- Excellent warranty and service if purchased from authorized (non-grey) seller
- Formal design, neutral color - can be used with silver/white-gold accessories, e.g cuff-links

Cons:
- Some might find them heavy
- Stainless steel strap scratches over time and it is not that easy nor cheap to switch to other material, like rubber bracelet

The Aquaracer I own is just like this one, only with a blue face instead of black and without the "day of the week" indicator, and have never had a single technical issue with it during the 5+ years I have owned it, wearing it daily and only removing it when I sleep. It has endured some serious beatings, having been worn during scuba diving, mountain biking, car repair and a million other activities that saw the watch get hit or slammed or scratched or electrified (seriously). It now carries with it some cosmetic flaws, but only in the form of some small scratches on the metal areas of the face and body, but the bezel (sapphire) is still flawless. Continues to keep accurate time, although it does lose about 5 minutes over the course of about 2 months... which I consider to be acceptable for an analog watch without digital innards. I just reset the time when I have to reset the calendar, which works out just about right.

Prior to this watch, I would go through about 1 or 2 watches a year, with them falling victim to various misadventures. My uncle had a TAG for years, and I finally bit the bullet and bought one. I consider this watch to be one of the best purchases I ever made, and plan to wear it for many years to come. I would buy this watch again, for certain.
