The Chronomat GMT 44 "Flying Fish" is one of the special series of Chronomat 01 produced in 2011. It is a smaller version of the older GMT 47 and is targeted at sports divers in particular and sportsmen in general.

Its mechanism is the inhouse designed and constructed B04 caliber that is a self-winding (automatic) movement with 28,800 vibrations per hour, certified by COSC (Controle officiel Suisse des Chronometers), supplied with 47 jewels and has a power reserve of 70 hours. It has a precise 1/4th of second chronograph, 30 minute and 12 hours sub dials, a date display and a GMT hand that indicates the second time zone. It is water resistant to 500 meters/1650 feet.
Elegant geometric numerals are deeply engraved in the racheted unidirectional bezel, that enhances its rugged appearance.

The black onyx face is supplied with a tachymetric scale on the flange, and Superluminova luminous treatment on its hands and hour markers enhance legibility. The date is placed between the four and five o'clock markers.

The black or blue rubber straps come in two types- Ocean Racer or Diver Pro ll.

The particular model for sale is the "Flying Fish" named in honor of Australian born Herbert Nitsch, holder of 31 diving world records. His greatest feat was reaching a depth of 214 meters (nearly 700 feet) in 2007. Nitsch is also a pilot, hence the nickname "Flying Fish".

This is a watch for the serious diver and the watch afficinado. MSRP is $8,750 to $9,750 but Amazon has better prices.
